Paul introduces God's perfect love to the Corinthians. It was foreign to them. They did not know God's persistent, absolute love that never gives up on us. It always has our best interests in mind. The Greek translation for that kind of love is Agape. Just as a parent is pleased with their child when they follow in their parent's best virtues, God is pleased with us when we practice Agape toward our neighbor.
