Flawed but Used: Samson’s Story of Sovereignty and Sin

Samson’s life illustrates the tension between God’s sovereignty and human responsibility. In Judges 14:1–6, Samson’s impulsive decisions—like pursuing a Philistine wife—were used by God to confront Israel’s oppressors. Yet, his actions carried personal consequences, reminding us that being used by God is not the same as being approved by Him. Galatians 6:7 warns that we reap what we sow; while God’s plans prevail, sin still leaves its mark. Samson’s story challenges us to align our choices with God’s will, knowing that delayed consequences are not canceled consequences.
