Description

Hosts Berly and LA tackle Season 1, Episode 8 of Supernatural, and LA opens with pure dread: "not happy, not thrilled, not excited." This is their self-proclaimed WORST episode so far, and it's not because of bad writing—it's because BUGS.

The episode opens in Oklahoma where poor Dustin falls into a perfectly person-sized sinkhole (supernatural sinkhole, obviously) and gets covered in beetles that crawl into his nose, ears, and everywhere else (horrifying). The official cause of death? Mad cow disease, which Sam immediately calls BS on because Dean learned about it from Oprah (Dean watches Oprah, confirmed).

Sam and Dean investigate and meet the Pike family—the first residents of a new housing development. There's Larry Pike (who welcomes everyone regardless of "race, religion, or sexual orientation"), his bug-obsessed teenage son Matt (their "Willie"), and a free barbecue. Dean immediately knows what to do: crash that barbecue for free food like the professional he is.

Episode Highlights:

The hosts spend the lore section researching the world's most terrifying bugs (LA suffered through this), including the giant silkworm assassin caterpillar that causes gangrene, Australian funnel web spiders with BUTT FANGS that can pierce fingernails, and bullet ants with the most painful bite in the world (they were in Ant-Man!).

LA covered her face for half the episode and will probably have nightmares. If you're squeamish about bugs, just skip this one and know that Sam finally softens about Dad.

"Kind of hungry for a little barbecue. How about you?" "The free food's got nothing to do with it." "Of course not. I'm a professional."
