Hosts Berly and LA tackle Season 1, Episode 7 of Supernatural, and things get... awkward. Like really awkward. Berly opens by remembering her doppelganger who was an exotic dancer in Dallas (naturally), and the hosts spend quality time discussing strip clubs and ADHD serial killers (you had to be there).
The episode takes us to Eastern Iowa University where Lori and her boyfriend Rich go to Nine Mile Road for some late-night romance. Rich wants to get frisky, but Lori shuts him down (consent is key, Rich!). Unfortunately, a dramatic pirate-looking ghost with a hook hand shows up and ruins everyone's night, leaving Rich hanging—literally—from the bridge while scraping the truck roof with his fingers.
Sam and Dean arrive posing as frat boys, and immediately Dean's volunteering his bro to help paint a guy purple for game day while Sam clutches his jaw in annoyance. They discover they're dealing with the ghost of Preacher Jacob Carnes who murdered 13 prostitutes in 1862 with his silver hook hand because he was mad about the red light district. As one does.
Episode Highlights:
The hosts rank this episode toward the bottom of the season so far (Berly did NOT enjoy this one), but appreciate the classic urban legend vibes. They dive into the real Texarkana Phantom Killer murders from 1946 that likely inspired the Hook Man legend—still Texas's #1 unsolved murder case.
"Remind me not to piss this girl off." - Dean about Lori
