Hosts Berly and LA dive into Season 1, Episode 6 of Supernatural, and LA opens with a begrudging admission: she's "somewhat enjoying" the show (progress!). With an episode title like "Skin," Berly had high expectations that did NOT go the way she hoped.
The episode opens with a crime scene shocker—Dean tied up a bloody woman, and the SWAT team busts in. But wait, it's "one week earlier" time! Sam gets an email from his college friend Becky about her brother Zach being arrested for murder, even though he was with her all night. Dean's skeptical ("this isn't our gig"), but they head to St. Louis anyway after peeling out past a "Drive Safe America" sign (Berly died laughing).
Things get weird when they discover a shapeshifter is running around stealing people's identities—and their clothes. The boys find disgusting jellified skin sheds in the sewers (NOT the skin shots Berly wanted), and "Cheekbones" (their nickname for one victim) has a doppelganger problem. Eventually, the shapeshifter becomes Dean and ties up Sam, leading to what the hosts declare as a VERY attractive tied-up Sam moment.
Episode Highlights:
The hosts explore shapeshifter lore from Greek mythology (Zeus was a swan, bull, AND ant) to Egyptian gods, and discover that Loki once turned into a female horse and gave birth to an eight-legged horse. As one does.
"I want to find that handsome devil and kick the holy crap out of him." - Dean about his own doppelganger
