Supernatural Season 5, Episode 17, 99 Problems recap ⛪ (But a... you know the rest. Thanks, Jay-Z.) An entire town in Blue Earth, Minnesota, has armed up for the Apocalypse, a young prophet is getting messages straight from the angels, and Cas discovers a liquor store, on Denim-wrapped Nightmares, a Supernatural rewatch podcast.
The boys are fleeing a swarm of demons when a heavily armed militia of townspeople saves them, Mad Max-style. They're led by Father Gideon (Larry Poindexter) and his daughter Leah (Kayla Mae Maloney), a prophet who's been getting messages from heaven that keep the town alive. But the rules keep getting stricter: no drinking, no gambling, no premarital sex. Then people who break the rules start dying. Cas shows up (very drunk) with a theory, and Dean slips away for a visit to someone special.
Episode Highlights:
In the lore segment, we dig into the Whore of Babylon from Revelation 17, drunk on the blood of the saints, how early Christians saw her as a symbol for Rome, and Aleister Crowley's take on her as Babalon, holding the holy grail.
"No drinking, no gambling, no premarital sex. Dating... They basically just outlawed 90% of your personality." – Sam Winchester
