Supernatural Season 4, Episode 8, Wishful Thinking recap 🧸 A wishing well is granting every wish in town, including an invisible peeping teen, a bullied kid with super strength, and one very depressed teddy bear, and it's all going horribly wrong, on Denim-wrapped Nightmares, a Supernatural rewatch podcast. Our advice: take it at face value and don't think too hard.
It starts with us drinking a Tom Arnold. (It's vodka with zero-sugar lemonade Vitamin Water. Trust us.) Then the boys roll into Concrete, Washington, where a haunted health spa, a peeping Tom nobody can see, and a giant teddy bear having an existential crisis all lead back to a wishing well at a Chinese restaurant. Turns out the well holds a cursed coin tied to Tiamat, the ancient goddess of chaos, and the boys have to find the first wisher, Wes (Ted Raimi), who's been very busy wishing.
Episode Highlights:
In the lore segment, we dig into Tiamat, the primordial Mesopotamian goddess of the sea and chaos (and, it turns out, a Dungeons & Dragons dragon), and the history of wishing wells, from Germanic tribes thanking water spirits to Coventina's Well in Northumberland, packed with offerings dating back 2,000 years, and why copper and silver coins may have actually kept the water safer to drink.
"Damn right I want to save some naked women." – Dean Winchester
