Our talks took us from the tattoo shop of ten plus years ago, where we created powerful imagery to reflect her biggest losses and loves, through a painful battle with terminal illness, and now, a tireless fight to reunite with her son.
Earlier this year I finally reconnected with this dear client and friend, whose indomitable spirit and courage in the face of impossible odds are nothing short of inspiring.
I really wanted to be one of the people to help this woman tell her story.
This was our first long conversation after years of not being in touch, and I ended up editing out some of the more chatty parts. But I left most of what she shared.
