People take offense way too often and easily. The outrage generating machines of social media are designed to keep people offended 24-7, and it is working. Joseph Epstein published an Op-Ed in the WSJ, on whether or not incoming first lady Jill Biden should, or should not, call herself “Dr.” A heated debate ensued about MD, Ph.D., EdD, JD and the merit or lack of merit of each credential and the hard work or little work required to obtain said degree. Hashtags were flying, name-calling and labeling were thrown around everywhere. I have taught in colleges for years, earned a doctorate almost 20 years ago, Mr. Epstein can think what he wants, I do not care. Jill Biden can call herself “First Lady or Dr. Jill Biden,” I equally do not care. Neither should you. It simply doesn't matter all that much. The media machine set the table with a deliciously controversial article sure to get people to bite hard and they did. Many were "offended" and needed to "stand up" for "the cause." There are characteristics in human nature that lead us down a road to being offended. This podcast will discuss how to do a better job of avoiding the rage and wasting time being offended. #drjillbiden #politics #offended #wsj #podcast
