A recent Gallop poll found 84% of respondents believe the media is responsible for the political division in America. Polls consistently show Americans are very concerned about the division.Yet, I can go on to any social media platform and find individuals posting divisive political memes with countless “likes,” and angry name-calling in the comment section by many of the same people who blame the media or politicians for creating political division. To trust the media or politicians to end the divisiveness seems absurd. The media is entertainment TV catering to its respective political base, and politicians from both the left and right are power-hungry machines that know the quickest way to create unthinking voters is the propaganda of anger, fear, name-calling, and stereotyping. We have to look internally to change the present situation. There is a fine line between humor and being offensive. Without a shared connection, humility, and the ability to laugh at oneself, comedy loses its power. Political memes, a modern form of satire, creates division, not reconciliation, or change opinions. This podcast traces the origins of satire to the current meme-culture we live in.#politics #memes #newsmedia #personalgrowthanddevelopment
