Summary:  Trying to sleep?  It’s like trying to forget something:  the harder you try, the more you remember.  There can be no “trying” to it.  There are some over-the-counter sleep aids, designed for short-term use, but they too have their drawbacks.  Melatonin, Tylenol PM (diphenhydramine), Nyquil are discussed, with a brief look at Ambien (will be discussed at length in future podcast). Discussing OTC sleep aids with your doctor and pharmacist is always a good idea.  Long-term solutions such as sleep hygiene and relaxation are also addressed.
