We place so much value on the pursuit of material success, as it's often deemed as valuable in our society. without the attainment of this, we feel like we are worth less and we are not as important as others. But all this signals to me is that we have been indoctrinated into a system that rewards this way of thinking, and that there is a difference between what you actually find valuable and what the beliefs of the system encourages you to.
True success is when one finds something that is deep and meaningful like building a good relationship with people that enhance your life, satisfying your intellectual curiosity, pursuing something greater than your self serving desires, having a deep acceptance for who you are.
This is not to say that money won't make your life better, that would be naive. But it's only a tool to help you live a fulfilling life, it's not life itself. a better car won't make alleviate your social anxiety, a bigger house won't make your your relationships deeper, more money won't give you futileness.
All of them come from a state of mind, your mind is where the peace lies. not outside of it.
