1 Samuel 24:2
David showed love. He knew not to touch God’s anointed Saul. He had so many opportunities to kill Saul, but because of this same instruction, he didn’t. But this Saul had gathered 3,000 men to capture or kill him in battle. It would have been tough if they ended a battle; there would have been two options: David obeying the instruction “touch not my anointed,” and perhaps Saul would have killed him in the process, or he killed Saul, disobeying the instruction.
The battle had no way to go.
So to end this battle, God used the unlikeliest of strategies: David’s acts of love, which not only disarmed Saul, Saul even confirmed that he would certainly be kings after him, and guess what? The 3,000 able-bodied men went home without touching David. Skill, strength, etc. were not required—just love.
Now we see an example of what the Bible means when it says that “love is the Greatest”. It can be difficult and sometimes considered foolish to act in love, especially for those who despise us, but let’s not underestimate the power of love in turning things around.
We overcome in love.
I love you.
God help us on this! ❤️
