1 Samuel 18:5–10 NIV

The women sang, "Saul had slain his thousands, but David his ten thousands". When Saul saw how the people celebrated and acknowledged David when he won the battles, he was very angry and tried to kill David, thereby opening the door to the evil spirit.

Saul had his focus on the approval of men. He was so caught up with it that it was a need for people to celebrate and glorify him, not God.

But people can be fickle like the British weather and change their minds, opinions, and thoughts too fast depending on factors we don’t have influence over. So we can’t base our joy or happiness on others. There is nothing wrong with people celebrating us, but if we realise that the need for celebration is now driving us to receive more praise, we need to check ourselves.

Let God be our anchor. He is constant and unchanging. It is His approval that we should be focused on.

𝙅𝙤𝙡𝙖𝙎𝙥𝙚𝙖𝙠𝙨 is a short clip intended to grow and equip us in our trust walk with God. The current focus is on life’s seasons. Life is in seasons - so it is important that we lean in and learn from the Holy Spirit. I am grateful that every episode is inspired by the Holy Spirit. I encourage you to learn with me.
