1 Samuel 20:22, 41–42 NIV

When I read the story of David separating from Saul and leaving the palace, I thought it was a detour because David was moving away from the throne he was anointed for as Saul was determined to kill him. But no! It was not a detour, as this was aligning him with the process and God's plan for him as he prepared him to be King of Israel.

Saul was afraid of David because of his many successes. If David had stayed, Saul would have eventually killed him, or worse, he may have died inside. He would have been suppressed and stopped shining because it was triggering Saul’s fear and would be a shadow of himself. Certainly not God's plan for him. It was time for David to be separated from Saul!

Sometimes, when we are in similar situations, we think that because things are not going as logically as they should, i.e why am I leaving the palace I have been anointed for? We think it’s a detour. But no! God can use those moments to set us on the path he has planned for us.
