1 Samuel 23:24-29
Saul left his place of assignment as king to chase after David. He was so focused on killing David that the people that he was meant to protect had to call him when the Philistines invaded the land.
The distraction became his focus!
When we look at it, it all started with a simple thought: the women of Israel ascribed to David 10,000s and to him 1,000 and now this thought of jealousy and anger at David (not the women) had so infiltrated his heart that all he wanted to do was kill David.
This is how far thoughts can distract us from our focus, to the point where the distraction now becomes the focus, and this causes us to lose focus on what our assignment is.
Let us remember to focus on what God has called us to and not leave our place of assignment to chase after distractions, no matter how attractive the distractions are. And the good thing is that if we are already so engrossed with the distractions, God is so merciful for us to realign ourselves and refocus.
