In all the events around David’s testing that involved Nabal and Abigail, it’s good to point out that God was in the midst of everything. Yes, it was a test, but the reward was even greater: David found an amazing wife, Abigail.
Imagine if David ignored Abigail and went on to kill Nabal and her children. Would Abigail have become his wife? No. In addition, Nabal was already predestined to die soon after, so his killing Nabal in anger would have been pointless.
God orchestrates everything. The testing is no different. So no matter how hard they are, they are beneficial to us because they build us and prepare us as God has intended.
