1 Samuel 17:12–15 NIV

Today we discuss God's choosing David as king and how important it is to follow God's leading.

When Samuel went to anoint a new king, he almost anointed Eliab, as he had the statue and looked befitting for a king. But God corrected him and said He looks at the heart and not at looks.

God had seen a Goliath in the future of the Israelites and needed a David—a man who would listen, depend on Him, and obey Him—to win the battle. If Eliab had fought Goliath, he would have been relying on his own strength to beat Goliath and would have definitely lost the battle, as Goliath was bigger and stronger than him by a mile!

Let God lead us in choices for important decisions such as marriage, relationships, purpose, and career, as well as small things like what to wear or eat. He knows the future and what lies ahead.

God’s choice is so important.
