Genesis 18:18, 41:56–57 NIV
Today we take a look at God’s promise to Abraham and the vet promise transcending generations.
Genesis 18:18 AMP
“since Abraham is destined to become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth will be blessed through him?”
Abraham only needed to birth one child - Isaac, for the promise to be fulfilled. Isaac and Rebecca gave birth to Esau and Jacob, they were both great nations, but specifically Jacob gave birth to 12 sons, which formed Israel the great nation.
The second part of the promise—all the nations of the earth will be blessed through him—is vividly shown in the life of Joseph, who saved nations in the seven years of famine.
Indeed, we see that God’s words spoken to Abraham did come to pass.
God’s word is definite. If God has said it, it will definitely happen at the right time. God’s promises do not only involve us but also involve generations after us.
Let’s trusting God and lean on Him to be able to fulfil His promises for our lives.
