1 Samuel 18:1, 19:1–6 NIV
As David went through a difficult season in his life where he was running for his life as Saul looked for different means to kill him, God sent him someone to help him through it—a Jonathan.
There was no clear reason why Jonathan should have loved David, given that King Saul was his father and he was the heir to the throne. But God had put the favour and love of David in Jonathan’s heart. So Jonathan loved David as much as himself, disobeyed his father the king to spare David’s life, saved him from death many times, and also spoke to King Saul about David and how he had helped him. This was exactly what he needed to go through this very season of his life.
It was important that it was Jonathan who was influential over Saul and not his attendees.
God sends us people as we pass through tough seasons to help us. We may think we need favours from everyone, but just one Jonathan can be enough! No matter who is against us.
God help us...
