1 Samuel 15:33, 16:1 NIV
Today’s message takes a different turn, as we see how Samuel mourned Saul's rejection by God and how his actions show our attitude sometimes when things do not go as they ought to.
God had to call Samuel to stop his mourning and take on the next instruction. Samuel was still saddened, perhaps also because he would have lost integrity in the sight of the Israelites since he was the one who anointed Saul as king when God asked him to.
We may go through similar situations like Samuel did where things don’t turn out as expected—people or plans fail, like in the case of Saul. But let’s not continue to dwell on mourning closed chapters; let us look to God and follow His instructions. As we see, God had already chosen a replacement for Saul—David, to rectify the situation.
