1 Samuel 19:6β10 NIV
David faced fear and trauma in his dealings with Saul. How did David respond to all of it? He faced it head-on! obeying and showing up despite all that was at stake. He only ran away when he got the leading to.
In the normal sense, when one experiences trauma that the brain perceives as danger, oneβs flight or fight mode is activated to protect us. This is the normal thing to do. But David still showed up at the king's palace despite several attempts on his life when Saul turned a new leaf for a very short time. In each case, God directed and protected him.
Facing our fears, especially when trauma is involved, can be very difficult. It can be hard to push through the fears and tough past experiences, but if only we are bold, we would begin to realise our strength within to face them and overcome them.
