1 Samuel 23:1–14
While David was hiding from Saul, he went into battle with the philistines in Keilah. But before he went into battle, he asked God for leading and God told him to go into battle. From there, he heard that Saul was coming after him and also asked the Lord if he should flee or stay. Then God told him to flee.
The character of David here was that he was a man after God's heart, and so he always inquired of the Lord and obeyed every step of the way. Even now, when he was running for his life and hiding in the bush, he still inquired and listened to the Lord. Step-by-step obedience.
Let us obey God’s instructions every step of the way as He leads us—not using yesterday’s instructions for today but seeking God’s opinion and instructions and obeying them.
