1 Samuel 17:39–46 NIV
There could have been many other ammunitions that are more suited to a battle that David could have used. But when we study the strategy for overcoming Goliath we see that one key part was that Goliath needed to have underestimated David! to think this is easy game and to let his guard down. So seeing a young man with a shepherd bag, a sling and stones will have done just that.
And so when Goliath saw David and took a good look at him and what he was carrying. He felt insulted. He was expecting a warrior to fight but he saw a boy with a sling and stones. But that was all part of Gods plan - to use even his pride to defeat him.
David needed to be underestimated to win the battle.
Are you asking God for a strategy and tactic for overcoming the battle you are facing? God’s response may not make sense to us or be what we expect. But let us trust God’s choice and follow His leading.
