1 Samuel 20:1–3 NIV

In David’s struggles with Saul, he went to Jonathan to pour out his heart. He said, “What wrong have I done to your father that makes him desire to kill me?” He was able to have a heart conversation with Jonathan, and around the same time, he wrote Psalm 143, pouring out his heart before God.

This is someone who was considered strong and mighty—he killed Goliath and won several wars after that! Yet this same person was able to humble himself to be vulnerable to heal.

In similar situations, when one is considered as strong, instead of sharing, we use tactics to suppress the pain in a bid not to be seen as weak (hands up🙋‍♀️ 😂). But it actually takes strength for one to be able to have heart-to-heart conversations with God and those we have a safe space with. When we try to keep the pain, hurt, and frustration to ourselves, we only continue in pain till we get overwhelmed by it.

Vulnerability can be misinterpreted as weakness. But no, I do not agree. Vulnerability is bravery. It is a strength. Many of us do know this truth, but we may still find it hard to accept it because our minds still see vulnerability as a weakness, and we are afraid we may still be judged that way. The Bible knows the challenging times wouldn’t be easy and encourages us to;

"Therefore, encourage and comfort one another and build up one another, just as you are doing.”
‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭11‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Check on your “strong” friends today. That person you unburden to may need to be comforted 💕💕. I pray God shows us our safe spaces today.
