On this episode, Chas hosts Dr. Charles Cole III, a renowned educator and founder of the successful company Energy Convertors. Dr. Cole's life journey is nothing short of inspirational as he shares how he overcame the challenges of being raised in poverty, living in shelters, and having drug addict parents to become a doctor and a successful entrepreneur.
Dr. Cole's passion lies in advancing the youth, particularly black males, and he draws his inspiration from his own experiences growing up without proper support. He attended more than ten elementary schools across the country while his parents battled addiction and incarceration, and not once did anyone inquire about his success or how he was surviving. His experience led to the publication of his first book, Beyond Grit and Resilience.
As the founder of Energy Convertors, Dr. Cole comes from the community he’s serving and has shared many of the students' experiences. He is currently a board member of UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital and co-hosts the 8 Black Hands Podcast. Dr. Cole's life goal is to better the communities he grew up in, which include Chicago, Paducah (KY), and Oakland.
