Ephesians is a book that highlights one of the most important distinctions in all of the Bible and breaks neatly into 2 distinct portions. In the first portion, chapters 1-3 discuss the first key section. This division has been described as the "indicative/imperative" or the "belief/behavior" distinction. This means that for Christians--the first part of Ephesians tells us who we are in Christ and the second part tells how we must respond to our new life in Christ! Our text is found in the "household code" section beginning at 5:22. This morning, we looked at the section from 5:22-24.
We asked three questions from the text that should guide our look at this portion dealing with the submission of a wife: What does the text NOT say? What does the text say? and why does God say this?
