Join Craig Sherwood and Ross Benson as they share some of the events of the last week and what is coming up this next week with their unique take on events.  

The events include updates on the Burbank Police Department's investigation of a social media post that contained a potential threat to a high school, the Burbank Airport Authority's decision on the design of their new terminal, and a traffic stop that resulted in a suicide.

On Monday, the Burbank Planning Commission met to discuss a Conditional Use Permit to operate a restaurant/drinking establishment, Magnolia Corner, which would allow for the sale of alcoholic beverages for on or off-premises. They also discussed an Administrative Use Permit to allow a parking reduction at 2623 West Magnolia Boulevard.

Tuesday's City Council Meeting discussed various issues, including a grant to the Burbank Police Department to enhance their cybersecurity intrusion detection and prevention capabilities, continued support for software that enhances data sharing and analytics for investigative purposes, and support counter-terrorism training. There was also a resolution in support of the inclusion of an Armenian checkbox in the 2030 Census and a public hearing to receive comments relating to the issuance of funds by the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority to finance or refinance the acquisition, development, improvement, renovation, construction, and reconfiguration of certain facilities, including a replacement passenger terminal and associated support components. The Council also discussed potentially raising the pride flag at City Hall during the month of June in support of LGBTQI+ Pride Month.

Wednesday had a Senior Citizen Board meeting and a Friends of the Library meeting at the Burbank Central Library second-floor auditorium.

Thursday saw an Advisory Council on Disabilities monthly meeting on Zoom and an Infrastructure Oversight Board meeting at the Community Services Building to discuss sending their recommendations to the City Council.

On Saturday, the Media District Specific Plan Update Project Team hosted their third and final neighborhood walkabout to discuss updates to the plan, and there was a grand opening ribbon cutting for Unincorporated Coffee Roasters with the Toluca Lake Chamber of Commerce. There was also a sustainable community educational event to learn about residential water efficiency through the use of water rebates and the restoration of native landscape habitat at the Community Services Building Room 104.
