Looking ahead to the upcoming week, here's a rundown of the exciting events and important meetings taking place in Burbank:
On Monday, the Sustainable Burbank Commission will convene at 5 pm in the Council Chambers. They will address significant topics such as the memo to ban gas leaf blowers, a report on single-use plastics, and an update on greenhouse gas emissions. Simultaneously, the Transportation Commission Meeting will take place at the Community Services Building, where the focus will be on enhancing bicycle and pedestrian mobility across the Interstate Five Freeway that runs through Burbank.
Tuesday offers a chance to connect with our Burbank Police Department at the "Coffee with a Cop" event, held at Starbucks on 300 N San Fernando from 8 to 10 am. Later in the evening, the City Council Meeting at 6 pm will feature a public hearing to introduce an ordinance for streamlining the ministerial review and public oversight process for development projects. Additionally, the council will discuss filling the vacancy on the Airport Commission and continue the budget discussion from the previous week.
Wednesday brings an exciting opportunity for fitness enthusiasts and bike enthusiasts alike. From 7 to 10 am, the "Bike, Walk, Breathe" event will take place, offering valuable information, bike repairs, giveaways, outdoor spin classes, and more. Leadership Burbank will also hold its 2023 Graduation Ceremony at Woodbury University, celebrating the successful completion of the program.
On Thursday, the Fiscal and Treasurer's meeting will be held at 10:30 am in the Community Services Building, where the City of Burbank's investment policy and the City Treasurer's investment portfolio report for March 31, 2023, will be reviewed. The BHS Pop Show will also continue, showcasing the incredible talents of Burbank High School students.
Friday will witness a 30th Anniversary Ribbon Cutting and Celebration for Romancing the Bean at 3413 W Magnolia Blvd, starting at 4:30 pm. Additionally, Tansy will host an Open Mic night from 7 to 9 pm, featuring poetry, music, comedy, and more, providing a platform for local talents to shine.
Saturday is a day filled with community events. The CARE WALK will take place, inviting everyone to participate and show support. The Friends of the Burbank Public Library will host a One Day Pop-Up Sale, offering brand new and used fiction and nonfiction books, children's books, DVDs, and CDs at bargain prices.
