Message Notes:

Isaiah 6:1-8 (NLT) It was in the year King Uzziah died that I saw the Lord. He was sitting on a lofty throne, and the train of his robe filled the Temple.

Attending him were mighty seraphim, each having six wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew.

They were calling out to each other, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.”

Their voices shook the Temple to its foundations, and the entire building was filled with smoke. Then I said, “It’s all over! I am doomed, for I am a sinful man. I have filthy lips, and I live among a people with filthy lips. Yet I have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.”

Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal he had taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. He touched my lips with it and said, “See, this coal has touched your lips. Now your guilt is removed, and your sins are forgiven.”

Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me.”

√  Before God told Isaiah what to do, He showed him who He was.

√  Isaiah’s response to God’s glory was a heart of repentance.

II Chronicles 7:14 (NIV) If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

√  God cleansed Isaiah and then He called him.

I. SEE GOD’S POWER AT WORK.

Isaiah 6:1 (NLT) ...I saw the Lord.

Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV) Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

II. STEP OUTSIDE OF MY COMFORT ZONE.

Genesis 12:1 (NIV) The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.”

II Corinthians 5:14-15 (TLB)  He died for all so that all who live—having received eternal life from him—might live no longer for themselves, to please themselves, but to spend their lives pleasing Christ who died and rose again for them.

III. SURRENDER MY WILL.

Isaiah 6:8 (NLT) Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me.”
