Mark 5:2-20 (NIV) When Jesus got out of the boat, a man with an impure spirit came from the tombs to meet him. This man lived in the tombs, and no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain.
Night and day among the tombs and in the hills he would cry out and cut himself with stones. When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in front of him.
Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” “My name is Legion,” he replied, “for we are many.” The demons begged Jesus, “Send us among the pigs.” He gave them permission, and the impure spirits came out and went into the pigs. The herd, about two thousand, rushed down the steep bank into the lake and drowned.
When the people came to Jesus, they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons, sitting there, dressed and in his right mind.
As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man begged to go with him. Jesus said, “Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you and how he has had mercy on you.”
So the man went away and began to tell in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him. And all the people were amazed.
√ HE LABELS YOU BY YOUR BROKENNESS.
The enemy calls you by your past. God calls you by your name.
√ HE TRIES TO MAKE YOU COMFORTABLE IN THE DARK.
John 8:12 (NIV) I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.
√ HE CONVINCES YOU NOTHING WILL EVER CHANGE.
John 10:10 (NIV) The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
I. LEAVE THE TOMBS BEHIND.
Ephesians 5:14 (NIV) Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.
II. SEE YOURSELF THE WAY GOD SEES YOU.
Judges 6:11–12 (NIV) The angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.”
II Corinthians 5:17 (ESV) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
III. STEP INTO YOUR PURPOSE.
Mark 5:19 (NIV) “Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you…”
Ephesians 2:10 (NIV) For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
