Summer at Bay Chapel | June 4, 2023

Psalm 42:1-5 (NLT) As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God. I thirst for God, the living God. When can I go and stand before him? Day and night I have only tears for food, while my enemies continually taunt me, saying, “Where is this God of yours?”
My heart is breaking as I remember how it used to be: I walked among the crowds of worshipers, leading a great procession to the house of God, singing for joy and giving thanks amid the sound of a great celebration!
Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again—my Savior and my God!

√  LIVING IN THE PAST
Philippians 3:13-14 (NIV) One thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
√  KEEPING SCORE
√ GROWING WEARY
Matthew 11:28-29 (NIV) Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

SETTING THE PACE

I. RUN AS LIGHT AS POSSIBLE.
Hebrews 12:1 (NLT) ...let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.
Psalm 55:22 (NLT) Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you.

II. FIND STRENGTH IN THE HOLY SPIRIT.
Psalm 42:1 (NLT) As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God.
Isaiah 43:1-3 (GNT) The Lord who created you says, “Do not be afraid—I will save you. I have called you by name—you are mine. When you pass through deep waters, I will be with you; your troubles will not overwhelm you.
When you pass through fire, you will not be burned; the hard trials that come will not hurt you. For I am the Lord your God, the holy God of Israel, who saves you.
