If you were to ask God for a sign, what kind of sign would you ask God? God gave some great signs to people who didn’t eve ask for a sign. In today’s message, Pastor Wallace shares with us the sign God choose to signify His coming to the earth: He choose a baby wrapped in cloths lying in a manger.” God gave the Jews a sign; but they weren’t expecting a baby in a manger. God gave them a sign and they missed it. It was too simple then and for many people it is still too simple today. Luke is telling us that the particular circumstances of Jesus’ birth are important. The Manger was dirty. The Manger was planned. The Manger was a sign. Through the manger, there are three things we learn: Jesus’ closeness, poverty, and realness. The most important point, Pastor Wallace shares with us is that they (the shepherds) would never have received the message if they had not decided to go to Bethlehem (house of bread) to “to see this thing that has happened.” (2:15). Will you go?
