Description

Join us for an inspiring conversation with Jack Trottier, founder of the Jack Trottier Foundation (JTF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to transforming the lives of individuals impacted by spinal cord injuries. Since launching in 2021, Jack has directed supportive programs across New England that focus on granting independence, expanding opportunities, and elevating quality of life through innovative, person-centered initiatives.

In this episode, Jack shares his origin story—what motivated him to start JTF and the moment he realized this cause needed an organized, hands-on approach. From Quality-of-Life Grants that ease financial burdens, to Advanced Recreation Therapy promoting healing through adaptive sports and experiences, to Storytellers, an education initiative that raises awareness through personal narratives—discover how every program is tailored to meet individuals where they are on their recovery journey.

We’ll explore JTF’s remarkable impact since 2021:
    •    More than 66 Quality of Life grants awarded in New England so far
    •    Over 21 adaptive recreation therapy events nationwide
    •    15 Storytellers presentations delivered at businesses, healthcare centers, schools, and more

You’ll hear about how JTF collaborates with partners on transformative projects—like the recent home renovation in Maine with the Matt Brown Foundation—and brings survivors into adaptive adventures, from water skiing to surfing. Recent highlights include an adaptive surfing event at Horseneck Beach, MA, scheduled for September 5, 2025.

Throughout the discussion, Jack opens up about the emotional and practical challenges of supporting SCI survivors, the importance of community and storytelling, and how listeners can get involved—whether through volunteering, attending events, or donating to foster mobility, independence, and well-being.

Tune in for a heartfelt, hopeful, and action-oriented episode that proves how vision—and compassion—can shift lives.
