- Ecclesia semper reformanda es
- A Latin phrase that means "the church must always be reformed". It's often attributed to St. Augustine and popularized by Karl Barth in 1947.
The idea that the church should be in constant reformation means that the church should:
Re-examine itself to maintain its purity of doctrine and practice
Be willing to reform practices to conform to God's Word
Not change simply for the sake of it
Not resist change simply because of tradition
Correct and change what has become corrupt
