Welcome back to Film Haven Reviews!! This week we are continuing our "Art Theft" theme with another movie based on a true story The Duke (2020)
This film was very straight forward but covered a pretty wild true story about a cab driver who stole one of the most prized portraits in British history, The Duke of Wellington. The best part is the performances by Jim Broadbent, Helen Mirren, and Mathew Goode, but I gave this film a 7/10 because it didn't have any extra flair creatively. It is a very "by the books" accounting of true events, and in that way its excellent, but it isn't more than that, which keeps it from being "great". But not all films need to be that! It was good for what it was, and its an insane story to boot!
