SMART(ER) Goals and New Year Resolutions - good idea? or not so much?
Setting and achieving goals is just part of the human experience, encompassing personal development, professional success, and overall well-being. No matter what you call it, or what we think - we all have things we want and ways we go about making it happen = Goals.
Despite good intentions, many of us face challenges in reaching goals - or even setting them in the first place. We explore the psychological and scientific reasons behind goal failures, practical tips, and inspiration to overcome common obstacles.
What stands in our way most often?
- Lack of Clarity for Desire: Vague or ambiguous goals hinder success; specificity and regular reassessment are essential. What do you want, really?
- Negative Thoughts: Negative self-talk, doubt, and fear of failure undermine motivation; positive mindset and affirmations are key. Just because it didn't work - or it did and then we let it all be undone - ever lose the weight only to put it all back on?
