In this episode of Jotxs y Recuerdos, Alexandra Nichole Vazquez interviews her mom, Nancy Gonzalez about her journey as a queer Chicana in the Rio Grande Valley. Specifically, her experiences of discrimination and dancing cumbia at 10th Avenue, a historic alternative (gay) bar that ran from 1987-2002.  She also reflects on the acceptance and freedom she now feels, emphasizing the importance of love, patience, and community support.
