This week on Delaware State of the Arts Podcast, Kaitlin Ammon interviews Cassandra Lewis, a Delaware playwright and author and a 2021 Established Fellow in Literature: Playwriting, about her latest play, Visitation, and its upcoming online reading that is being hosted by the ACLU of Delaware. To start, Ammon and Lewis discuss the different places Lewis draws inspiration from when creating and writing plays, as well as the reason why she began writing her own plays. From there, they delve into Lewis’ new play, Visitation, where Lewis discusses how she went about writing a play specifically to be presented online via Zoom and how its development was influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic.
As mentioned, the ACLU of Delaware is hosting the upcoming online reading of Visitation on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $15. After the reading, stay tuned for a panel discussion being hosted by the ACLU of Delaware featuring the organization’s staff members Haneef Salaam, the Campaign for Smart Justice Manager, and Susan L.
