Ep 7. Today I would like to share my own history with yo-yo dieting and my intermittent fasting journey.

First diet was: Slim Fast in my twenties.  I would drink a can of slim fast for breakfast and a can for lunch and eat a big dinner. Snacked on fruit in between meals.

Cabbage soup diet, medical weight loss, ww, Low carb, carnivore, vegetarian diet, the Mediterranean calorie king, my fitness pal, Dexa trim, appetite suppressants etc.  I can’t remember them all but there were many!

I was just trying not to be a statistic. I was determined to beat mother nature and my genetics!

I was on a mission to lose weight and I did every year.  Every year I lost the 10 to 20 pounds that I needed to lose so I thought I was in control. However, I always gained it back! Because those were diets, they weren’t long term solutions. I wasn’t planning to eat that way forever, so it was a temporary solution.  They all worked until they didn’t anymore.  As I got older it became harder and harder to lose the weight even though I was eating healthy and exercising every day. It was torcher! But what else could I do if I wanted to lose excess weight?

In January 2022, I walked into a Five Below store and picked up a book titled intermittent fasting cookbook.  I took the book home I read it the first 36 Pages that explained the intermittent fasting protocols and all of the benefits.   I stopped eating at 7pm January 18th and I did not eat again until the next day at 11:00 am that was my first 16 hour fast with an 8-hour eating window. I continued to eat within an eight-hour eating window the first week or so. As it became easier, I started to increase my fasting from 16 hours to 17 hours and I worked my way up to 20 hours a day with a four-hour eating window.  Since then, my fast have varied from day to day.  Some days I have a short fast some days I have a long fast it all depends on what I’m doing that day.

By creating and eating window every day I was able to improve my A1c from pre-diabetic to normal.  I was able to lower my cholesterol and I was able to lose 38 pounds the first year.  Since then, I’ve lost 20 more pounds.  I am back to my high school weight & size and I am not on any medications.  I owe all of this to intermittent fasting!

And that is the thing with intermittent fasting you don’t have to have a perfect diet all you need to do is create an eating window!

Thank you for listening to  the short version of my intermittent fasting Journey there are many highs and lows, but I was still able to reach my goal by being consistent!

And remember I’m not a doctor so please don’t use anything I say as a substitute for medical advice. Have a great day everyone and remember to strive to be the best version of YOU!
