Especially in CrossFit.

Here’s how >>>

CrossFit is a strength sport masquerading as a test of everything.

CrossFitters are advanced in strength, intermediate in endurance, and novice level in gymnastics.

Even the tests that seem like conditioning often involve lifting some weight.

If you can’t lift the weight in the first place, there’s nothing to endure

Scaling workouts in an attempt to get the same dose-response as an elite athlete gets is a recipe for staying where you are.

The game is get strong enough first. Then do as much volume as you can tolerate while:

1. your body holds up

2. your lifestyle supports it

3. you retain most of your strength and lean body mass – this is almost never an issue due to the amount of squatting, bending, pushing and pulling

Most of the elite athletes I know have a fast twitch physiology, evidenced by their muscle mass and/or athletic background.

Then they layer a shit ton of volume onto that. And become somewhat enduring.

That’s the game.
