What does it really mean to be desperate for God? In Psalm 63, David finds himself in a wilderness, betrayed, rejected, grieving, and facing an uncertain future. Yet what is remarkable is what David does not ask for. He does not cry for his throne, revenge, restored reputation, or even relief from his circumstances. He cries for God.

In this message, we examine David’s declaration, “O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee.” His pursuit begins with knowing God personally, grows into an urgent determination to seek Him first, and becomes a deep spiritual thirst that refuses to be satisfied with substitutes.

The question is not simply, “Do I believe in God?” but “Do I truly desire Him?” Psalm 63 challenges us to examine whether God receives our priority or our leftovers and whether we want God Himself or merely what He can do for us.
