The danger of being a Bible expert is thinking that you have it all figured out. Bible knowledge is good, but it does not guarantee that you are following Jesus. Following Jesus is doing what the Bible says. Often in Jesus’ teaching, biblical obedience comes from people that his hearers least expected. Last week it was the woman who was a sinner (Lk. 7:36-50), and here it is a Samaritan. As Jesus said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will.” (Lk. 10:21)
Take Home Message: Following Jesus is more than Bible knowledge.
