God of All Comfort
2 Corinthians 1:3-7
There are two inevitable truths for followers of Jesus Christ: 1) We will suffer in this life. 2) God will never leave or forsake us in the midst of our suffering. 2 Corinthians is Paul’s most emotional and personal letter. It is a deep well of comfort and encouragement for Christians who are experiencing affliction. Paul begins this letter by pointing Christians to the God of all comfort, who never abandons His children.
Take Home Message: The God of all comfort never abandons His children.
In the midst of trials, God provides…
- Comfort in all our affliction (v. 4).
- 2 Corinthians 1:4- who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
- Christ in all our sufferings (v. 5).
- 2 Corinthians 1:5- For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.
- Christians for all our journey (v. 6-7).
- 2 Corinthians 1:6-7- 6 If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer. 7 Our hope for you is unshaken, for we know that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in our comfort.
Simple. Authentic. Jesus.
