Our continuing series on Science & Theology for Emerging Adult Ministries or "STEAM" is hosting another discussion on February 2nd for College and Post-Graduate Students. Please join us on February 2nd as Guest Speaker Doug Given, a Geophysicist and the National Earthquake Early Warning Coordinator for the US Geological Survey, U.S. Dept. of the Interior, and Caltech Seismological Laboratory, talks about Science & Faith. Free dinner at 7:00pm in LC-1 (for those under 30), The lecture and discussion is at 7:45pm in Fellowship Hall and open to everyone. Interfaith Shelter is coming up from Saturday, March 11th to March 25th and we need volunteers. We will host 12 individuals & families who are on a path to escape homelessness. We need volunteers to set up on the morning of the 11th as well as overnight hosts. Also we will need help with kids as young as 6 years of age. There's a new fun fund raiser for Presbyterian Urban Ministries, called Chopped At Church on February 4th. Based on the hit TV cooking competition, Chopped at Church will feature teams from different churches cooking with the ingredients typically found in the grocery bag that PUM gives to their homeless clients. La Jolla Pres has a cooking team that will be representing us at the competition, and you can come cheer them on. Chopped will be February 4th at the Village Church in Rancho Santa Fe. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online at pumsd.org. Let's show up in good numbers so we can win the best Team Spirit award for La Jolla Pres! Not to mention supporting PUM and the good work they do in the community.
The next performance in our free concert series is an pipe organ concert on February 12th featuring world renowned Robert Plimpton, the San Diego Civic Organist Emeritus. The concert will be in the La Jolla Presbyterian Church Sanctuary on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at 4:00PM
