This week's announcements:
Good morning and happy Sunday! Welcome to our December 8th, 2019 service from La Jolla Presbyterian Church.
Today is the second week of Advent, and the second week of our Advert Sermon series called, Making Room, a look at the Christmas story through the lens of hospitality, we’re called to make room for others, just as Christ makes room for us. Rev. Dr. Paul Cunningham is preaching, his sermon is titled, “The Lord Is With You” it’s a look at Luke chapter 1, verses 26-38, the familiar story of the angel Gabriel visiting the young Mary, telling her she will bear a son. If you would like to connect with our church, you can find our website at LJPres.org. We hope to see lives transformed by a relationship with Jesus, and we strive to be a place where you experience and are able to express that transforming love of Christ.
The Christmas season is in full swing, and there’s something for everyone at church to get involved, and find some community here. You can see the complete list of everything going on at ljpres.org/Christmas.
One very special event we want to highlight are our annual Christmas concerts. The full Chancel choir, along with a professional orchestra, children and bell choirs will be presenting a program titled, “Hallelujah!” The concert is next Sunday, December 15th, at 4 and 7pm. The featured piece will be the Christmas portions of Handel’s Messiah, plus anthems and carols of the season. For more information, contact Ron Bolles at ronb@ljpres.org.
The best catalog of the season, the Mission Partner Catalog is now available. It has gifts for everyone on your shopping list. Explore the catalog through the end of the year and see all the opportunities for creative gift giving and ways to bless 30 mission partners plus, there are child sponsoring opportunities in Belize, Mexico and Malawi.
