Topic 1: Advantages and Disadvantages

To maintain good health, our bodies require a diverse range of fruits and vegetables. These foods have been shown to lower blood pressure, decrease the risk of heart disease and stroke, prevent certain types of cancer, and reduce the chances of eye and digestive issues, while also positively influencing blood sugar levels. With all these advantages, what’s not to appreciate? Unfortunately, only 1 in 10 Americans consume the recommended daily servings of fruits and vegetables, which can lead to nutrient deficiencies and health complications over time. Various factors, such as time constraints, cooking skills, and motivation, may influence our ability and desire to eat 3-5 cups of fruits and veggies each day. Today, we will discuss how you can boost your fruit and vegetable intake with a bit of planning through a tasty and convenient smoothie.

Topic 2: Necessary Equipment

To prepare a smoothie, you'll need a blender, measuring cups, your favorite smoothie recipe, and, if you're aiming to create pre-portioned smoothie bags for future convenience, some freezer Ziplock bags. You can easily find recipes with a quick online search. My (Ashleigh's) suggestion is to select a recipe that is simple, not overloaded with ingredients, yet still offers a nutritious snack.
