Do you ever get sweaty palms, a racing heart, feel like you're about to have a panic attack, or at least you're about to slip into a bout of nervousness? You can change the narrative by saying these three words. I AM EXCITED. Research shows that when people reappraise anxiety as excitement, they move out of a threat mindset of what can go wrong into an opportunity mindset of what can go right.
Harvard Business School did a study where they studied this phenomenon of saying, I am excited in 3 situations: public speaking, test taking, and karaoke.
Participants who said I AM EXCITED beforehand sang 17 percent better, were 17 percent better at public speaking, and 22 percent better at taking a math test.
My healing tip for you today is to hold your ring and little finger to help build your confidence and let go of trying to do something vs simply doing it.
