Instilling good habits in children before the age of five, lays the foundation for lifelong positive practices—what begins as a habit becomes a way of life. If the future world is to be virtuous, the responsibility lies with the parents. If the parents are good, the children will also grow up to be good. Even if the father makes a mistake, the mother must uphold strong moral values. This is because it is the mother who nurtures and raises the child, feeding and caring for them from the beginning.
While feeding milk to the child, it should be done with good thoughts. The thoughts and love that pass through the milk help shape the child into a loving and well-mannered person. That is why a mother’s milk is so important for a child.
Whenever the mother feeds milk to the child, she should have noble thoughts about the child. She should bless the child, thinking, “May he grow up to be a good person, a capable individual, one who is pure, and a noble soul praised by the world.” When she feeds the child with such positive thoughts, those good thoughts travel along with the milk and become part of the nourishment. That very nourishment turns into the child’s blood. Blood becomes the mind, and the mind becomes character. Whenever the mother feeds the child—whether it is milk or rice—she should do so with a pleasant face, without any irritation or dislike. When a child is about to leave for school, we often feed them while scolding or even hitting them. This should never be done, as such experiences leave a lasting imprint on their minds.
A mother's character deeply influences the character of her child. It is the mother who shapes the virtues and values of a noble and disciplined individual.
Therefore, O mother, if you embody divinity through your conduct, your child too will reflect that divinity. So, if you (the mother) become aware of yourself and live with integrity and discipline, your family will grow into a noble and exemplary one. A tamil proverb reflects this as, *a good family is a true university*. So, it is the mother who shapes society and the world. The mother is truly the greatest.
O Mother, you have awakened to the womanhood within you. You have realized the strength and potential of a mother that lie within you. Now, recognize the divinity that dwells within you—and live as that divine being. With this, *Gurumahan* offers his complete and heartfelt blessings for a fulfilled and noble life.
