Sunlight is the primary source of energy for all life on Earth. During festivals, we light a big diya which helps to light smaller diyas.
Likewise the Supreme Light manifested as - Atman (ஆத்ம ஒளி), Intellect (அறிவ ஒளி) & the five elements of Earth. Supreme Light is present within human body of matter as seven chakras.

Crown Chakra - Atman 7
Third Eye Chakra - Intellect 6
Throat Chakra - Space element 5
Heart Chakra - Air element 4
Solar Plexus - Fire element 3
Sacral Chakra - Water element 2
Root Chakra - Land element 1
These 8 levels are the crux of yoga philosophy.
When we go for 8 shaped walking, our body's neuromuscular coordination improves. In fact to get driving license, we need to ride vehicle on shape 8.
Likewise to cross this human birth with flying colours, we must pass the 8th level to become infinite!
